Hello everyone -
As a PE teacher I take great pride in the work we are accomplishing here at Gunderson. Combining my professional experience and education in strength and conditioning, I have created a fitness-based curriculum that educates students in the principles of human movement and general fitness. Within this curriculum, we leverage the use of technology and let data and research guide our lessons and activities. In doing so, students are provided with meaningful and modern content that supports their development in our class.
Our curriculum applies a collaborative model, which allows students to work with a partner, or in a small group so that we can increase engagement in our lessons and activities. We also employ 6 different performance assessments, every six weeks. Using this frequency with our assessments ensures that students are understanding the concepts and that they are physically developing in all areas of fitness.
With the use of Google classroom, I can further support my students by providing them with digital content outside of our normal class time. With this platform, students are able to receive announcements, access instructional videos, take tests, turn in assignments, and view their performance assessments. I encourage all parents to take an active role in their child’s PE class by viewing their Google classroom account and discussing the concepts they are learning.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to discuss our PE program, please do not hesitate to contact me. Go grizzlies!
